Penelope Architects of Golf is a golf-themed, limited-edition series of straight bourbon whiskeys released by Penelope Bourbon in May 2026. The collection honors the brand's origin story, tracing back to 2018 when founders Michael Paladini and Danny Polise first mapped out the blueprint for the company during an 18-hole round of golf. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Unlike Penelope’s standard Architect Series, which uses French Oak staves, this special collection is finished with American Oak staves and dialed back to a highly approachable 94 proof (47% ABV). [1]
The Concept and Structure
The series is built around the progression of a golf scorecard, designed to explore how small adjustments in time and intensity alter a whiskey's profile. The initial rollout features three distinct expressions, labeled as "Holes": [1, 2, 3, 4]
- Base Blend: Every expression begins with the same 6-year-old straight bourbon base, featuring a four-grain mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley.
- The Progression: The bourbon profiles shift from approachable to bold across the round, mirroring the rhythm of playing a course.
- Pricing: The standard manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) is $59.99 per 750ml bottle. [1, 2, 3]
Flavor Profiles by "Hole"
- Hole 01 (The Opener): This expression features the mildest stave treatment. It offers light aromas of vanilla, caramel, and toasted oak, shifting to gentle baking spices on the palate with a smooth, easygoing finish. [1, 2, 3]
- Hole 02 (The Turn): A more structured profile with heavier wood interaction. It carries richer scents of butterscotch and sweet fruit, building into layered notes of dark chocolate and French toast on the palate. [1, 2]
- Hole 03 (The Deep Drive): The most robust and intense stave influence of the initial trio. It features heavy vanilla layered over toasted oak and dried red fruit, finishing with dark chocolate and concentrated cherry notes
